This is where I post non-standard Sorcery schticks used in this game.

Blast Special Effects

These are additional Special Effects used for the Blast schtick beyond those listed in the main rule book.

Biting Cold

This special effect is borrowed from a spell called Ice created by David Eber and posted on Bryant Durrell's page.  Shinji uses this special effect in our game.

The spellcaster hits her target with a blast of magical cold which temporarily leaves the target vulnerable. The sorceress makes a Sorcery Task check with her target's dodge rating as the Difficulty. If successful, the target reduces their Toughness rating by an amount equal to the Outcome of the spell. Toughness cannot be reduced by more than half of the target's original Toughness (rounding down). The effects of this spell last for a number of shots equal to the caster's Magic rating.

Countermagic

This is unmodified (save for editorial corrections) from the Countermagic spell created by Garry Handelman and available on Bryant Durrell's page. Mirunoto Hiro uses it in our game.

Magic Cops may start with Countermagic instead of Fertility, Divination, or Healing, but they probably won't want to. On a Countermagic backlash, you lose all your magic points. If you're already out of magic points (i.e. Magic = 0), you can ignore countermagic backlashes.

Disenchant

Spend a Magic Point and select an enchanted object or person. Strip them of all magical effects presently on them. Difficulty is the highest appropriate action value (tattoo, sorcery, etc.) of the individual(s) responsible for the enchantment(s) or other magical effect(s). This does no harm to supernatural creatures, nor does it damage tattoos or their users, but can free them from the effects of said.

Disrupt Magic

Using this ability counts as a 1 shot defensive action. Do it when an opponent is casting a spell, not necessarily at you. If you can beat his Sorcery Action result with your own, his spell is cancelled.

Disrupt Beings

As per the Chi effect of Blast, but only affects Supernatural Creatures, and ignores creature armor and damage immunities. You may use your Sorcery when defending against tattoo or creature power attacks even if you do not have Blast.

Ki Dissolution

Roll a Magic check with a difficulty of 15. For the next (Outcome) days, the Magic juncture modifier in a sphere (Outcome) x 5 meters around you drops by (Outcome), and so does the tattoo and creature power modifier. You can only make this effect permanent if you have the Permanency effect of the Astral schtick.

Soul Mask

Anytime anyone attempts to use supernatural methods, of any sort including Chi powers, to detect you or gather information about you, add your Sorcery to the difficulty, even if the base difficulty is your Sorcery. You can spend a Magic point to extend this benefit to any person you touch for one day.

Winter

This is a combination of the standard Weather spell and some some special effects, somewhat modified, from a spell called Ice created by David Eber and posted on Bryant Durrell's page.  It uses the Cold, Fog, Rain, Snow, and Wind special effects from the Weather spell, plus the Create Ice, Freeze, and Killing Frost from the Ice spell.  Shinji uses this spell in our game.

Backlash for the Winter spell is similar to the one for Weather.

Create Ice

This spell allows the caster to create a solid mass of ice out of thin air. The Difficulty of the spell is equal 5 plus to the number of cubic meters of ice created by the spell (anything less than 1 cubic meter is Diff. 5), as modified by the shape the caster wishes the ice to take. A flat sheet of ice on the ground or a solid slab of ice adds nothing to the Difficulty, but shaping the ice any further adds anywhere from +1 to +10 to the difficulty, depending on the complexity of the object desired, and the caster may not created detailed or multi-part items. Simple weapons may be created, but if the user inflicts 10 or more points of damage with it on any target (before reductions for Toughness and/or Armor) it will shatter. The range of this spell is equal to the caster's Sorcery rating in meters.

Freeze

This spell causes a single, non-living object to instantly freeze and become brittle (walking corpses and the like may not be targeted by this spell). Items frozen are effectively destroyed. The range of this spell is equal to the caster's Sorcery rating in meters. If you are trying to target something another character has on their possession, such as a weapon or their armor or whatever, the Difficulty is equal to the dodge rating of the character. The size of object also affects the Difficulty: the larger it is, the harder it is to freeze. A knife would add nothing to the difficulty, a katana would add +2, a full suit of armor +4, a horse +6, and a cart +10.

Killing Frost

The spellcaster hits her target with a blast of freezing cold air, coating them with frost. The sorceress makes a Sorcery Task check with her target's dodge rating as the Difficulty. If successful, the target suffers impairment equal to the Outcome of the spell for a number of shots equal to the caster's Magic rating.
